Pearl

The exterior with an irregular, textured, grey finish is the exact opposite of the smooth, shiny, light-coloured interior: it is in this surprising dichotomy that the design idea of the Pearl bathtub, designed by Alberto Apostoli for Kreoo, explodes. The oyster is its creative and evocative principle, with its rough, asymmetrical shell that conceals a tiny opaline universe and its values linked to elegance and the pleasures of life. The resulting design is based on the balance between two aesthetics that interpenetrate and are enriched by the element of water, in which the person can immerse themselves, here a metaphor for the ‘pearl’: the ergonomic internal shell, made of resin with a mother-of-pearl finish, is treated with tiny holes on the bottom of the bathtub from which pressurised air comes out, setting the liquid mass in motion, with a pleasant massaging sensation along the body. It is an effect caused by the Airpool system, integrated for the first time in a natural stone tub, which promotes a wellness dimension, accentuated by the insertion of a thin horizontal light cut and its ability to release the iridescence of the surface. The external casing is in Olive Grey marble and reveals a material workmanship, handmade and never the same, and an edge that widens at the center, on the long side, to accommodate the controls: a small flare that emphasizes the natural theme of the inspiration for the product – the shell – and which includes the ‘technical machine’ dedicated to the delivery of the hydromassage. Designed for residential and hospitality environments, Pearl elevates the relationship between the raw material, the light, the water and the refined technology to poetry, in a collection created for the well-being of the person.

Alberto Apostoli
Alberto Apostoli graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Venice in 1993, then studied and worked throughout different European countries, always looking for inspiration in whichever place he happened to find himself. He is curious about almost every subject, he especially loves the arts, nature and fashion. He is interested in the different cultures of the world; in his view, being Italian means being hungry for beauty wherever it may be found. Thus he immediately felt the need to have his own firm, both due to an innate desire for independence and also because of his natural inclination not to become a “traditional” architect that is oriented towards compromise and contamination. He started the firm in 1997, looking for an innovative path within the profession; in terms of the approach to projects as well as the themes dealt with within them. He therefore initially took an interest in the world of ephemeral architecture, in technologies generally applied to construction and in the relationship between design and communication. The area of Wellness design, which he stumbled upon almost by chance a couple in the years which followed, represents for him the culmination of my professional research because it is a synthesis of: architecture, culture, philosophy and the ability of a project to speak to the body, mind and soul of people, … a way to speak of technology and poetry at the same time. In 2006 at the European Parliament he exhibited his thoughts in a solo exhibition on the theme of contamination between architecture, design and communication. Also in that year, he opened a studio in Guangzhou because the East, with its culture and approach, is an indisputable source of inspiration for those who intend to design and live not only thinking about the subject. Over the course of 20 years he designed iconic products and projects for various brands (some quite renowned) that have opened new markets for the wellness sector. Some of these have been patented and even used certain technologies for the first time which today have become common-place within the sector. The projects he develops always aim to address well-being, sometimes overtly, other times more subtly, but it is this approach that defines the uniqueness in the work. It is not important to him whether they are spas, hotels, houses, stores, products or urban parks … it is important that the essential and unique common values are at the center of each project. Just as unique as his relationship with the territory and nature, is the inspiring thought that is at the core of each project and the emotion that it must communicate.

Just as nature is beautifully imperfect, so too are our finishes. Each material is one-of-a-kind, with subtle variations in veins, natural cracks, stains, and color tones.
These natural characteristics are not flaws but a reflection of the rarity and individuality of each piece. Embrace the inherent uniqueness of our finishes—because true luxury lies in the exceptional, not the uniform.
